The movie stars Charles Laughton as the enigmatic Dr. Moreau and features Bela Lugosi in a supporting role. It is widely regarded as one of the most influential horror films of the early 1930s.

The story centers around Edward Parker, played by Richard Arlen, a shipwreck survivor who finds himself stranded on a remote island ruled by the mysterious Dr. Moreau. As Parker explores the island, he discovers that Dr. Moreau has been conducting unethical experiments, transforming animals into humanoid creatures through surgical means.

Dr. Moreau, a mad scientist obsessed with pushing the boundaries of science and morality, is portrayed with chilling intensity by Charles Laughton. His sinister presence looms large over the island as he manipulates and controls his grotesque creations.
